FOUNTAIN DEDICATION

June 23, 2008

The dedication ceremony for the fountain and resting plaza on the Burlington Town Common. A gift from our Club to to the town to commemorate our Club's 50th anniversary, this area will provide a pleasant resting place for folks visiting the Common. A NEW GAVEL

June 6, 2008

Margaret Dougherty, President of the Wilmington, Massachusetts Rotary Club presents a new gavel to our Club's President John Tuccinardi in celebration of our Club's 50th anniversary. The Wilmington Rotary Club was our Club's sponsor 50 years ago.

Fifty years to the day after our club was issued its charter an anniversary luncheon meeting was held at Burlington's Cafe Escadrille. 2nd Annual Fashion Show

This event was a resounding success, attracting over 250 attendees who enjoyed an evening eating delicious snacks and deserts, while watching Rotarians and their family members, Interact Club members, and our Club's Burlington Pride Special Olympics Team players strut their stuff up the runway and onto the stage wearing outfits from Ann Taylor, Men's Warehouse and The GAP.

The venue was The Billerica Elks Hall where the guests relaxed around 30 banquet tables. To add to their enjoyment and our Club's fund raising, 30 different prizes were raffled off throughout the evening.

Friday Night at the Fights

A spectacularly successful event, this year's "Friday Night at the Fights" amateur boxing event combined with dinner and raffles raised a significant amount of money the club will put to good use helping people this year.

Passion Plunge

February 16, 2008

SOMA

Burlington Rotarian David May (R-back row) joined with his friends Rick Murray and Fred Lonergan and over 300 other hardy souls who took a dip in the 38 degee water at Revere Beach to raise money for Special Olympics of Massachusetts (SOMA). Burlington Rotary sponsers and coach local Special Olympics Softball and Basketball players. David's supporters and the Burlington Rotary raised over $1000 in contributions to SOMA for his plunge. The air temperature that day was 20 degrees, brrr...

World Peace and Understanding

Bookcase Project

The installation ceremony, the culmination of a project three years in the making, took place on January 11, 2008 at the Burlington High School Library. Our club donated this beautiful bookcase and the books in it to help BHS students learn more about one of Rotary's major goals, the furtherence of world peace and understanding between people of varied nationalities and ethnicities. DG Julia Phelps (R) attended the ceremony, along with many of our club's members, Interact students, and BHS staff.,
